Genesis Code dvd... is it really the beginning of a new thought?

Augustine in his City of God based a theology that light emanates from the Eyes and illuminates to create our vision.
This is how he based the view that we are greater then our surroundings etc...

Since that time we have learned that Science has proven that the eye only reflects the light creating vision.

Augustine's philosophy created an idea that even scripture, unless proven, was fallible...

So here is the question that I have... is God all powerful, all knowing, and is the scripture which claims to be the 'inerrant and inspired word of God' true?

If so why do we look at it through the lens of Science instead of Science through the lens of scripture?

This movie, the Genesis Code, was well acted, well scripted and played out.  For that I can not fault it.
My fault with it is more one of factual, credible and reliable truth.
Not even a debate of creation vs. evolution.  Big bang vs. God said it...
But this:
If Sin and death didn't enter the world until Adam and Eve sinned as scripture states, then how could this proposed theory be true.
How could entire species such as dinosaurs have lived and died before Adam and Eve... or even with that, how about the Missing links that would have died...

As a college student with a communications major I was excellent at Debate and impromptu speaking.
In fact on one occasion as a high school student, I was visiting the state house in Indiana taking part in a school event.
This event had students from all over being given a topic and 10 min's to discuss and come up with their point of view.
We were then GIVEN the topic and if we were for or apposed...
I was on a very difficult one as I had to argue for the removal of all Handicapped parking spaces on federal and public property.
Needless to say, I was chosen as the spokesperson and we won.

I say this to prove a point: Just because we can argue better then another doesn't always mean that we have the right truth. It could just mean we are more full of it then the other person....

Check this movie out for yourself and see how you think.
don't believe a positive post by some one time reviewer, or a negative post by a seasoned retailer and blogger...

Escape DVD Review

Received a free copy of Escape with C Thomas Howell and John Rhys-Davies.
first here is what the distributers had to say:
Doctors Paul and Kim Jordan are struggling to find peace in their lives after the tragic loss of their baby's life. Paul (C. Thomas Howell from The Amazing Spider Man, ET) persuades Kim to escape reality and flee to the exquisite islands of Southeast Asia. Paradise becomes a nightmare when he is kidnapped by human traffickers in need of a skilled doctor.

Faced with a fight for survival, Paul finds himself captive alongside the wealthy Malcolm Andrews (John Rhys-Davies from Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings). He quickly realizes there is no hope for his captors dying leader and is forced to examine his eternal fate. With life and death in the balance, Malcolm challenges Paul to stop running from God. Will Paul realize that trust in God is his only hope for escape and reunion with his wife?

Pure Flix has had many films over the past few years from Brother White to Encounter to Jerusalem Countdown and many more.
this film was another step up in every area.
First thing that caught my eye was the great photography. This movies production value took a giant leap in quality.

Second was the actors. From a LOTR actor in John Rhys-Davies to Pony Boy Curtis from the outsiders tthe films actors did a great job.
Finally the script was very solidly written as well.

Our main characters find themselves after a tragic loss leaving everything they have to do doctor work in the villages of Thailand.
One day a young boy comes to the clinic and Howell follows him to a so called emergency.  He soon finds himself kidnapped to help some local pirates.

The story carreans from there into a suspensefil drama that is not the norm in Christian cinema.

Be sure to pick up a copy and help support GOOD christian Films!

Letter Writer DVD

"I Told Her I wrote 10 notes of encouragement this morning and when I walked by I felt like one of them we meant for you."
A simple greeting from Sam Worthington, pen name of the Letter Writer.

Previewed an amazing film tonight of a young girl who is struggling with Teenage anxiety and pressure.  In the midst of it all she gets a letter.  A Letter addressed to her.  Maggie struggles to find who he is and why he wrote her.

She Finally finds Stan aka. Sam, at a local nursing home.  What she finds is a man who is part rough, yet fully compassionate.

He writes letters to random people in the phone book speaking truth into their lives.

This film will leave you crying, laughing and wanting to follow in Sam's footsteps by writing a letter to a stranger.

So think about this.  In 1 Corinthians we learn all sorts of things about LOVE.  Yet when you are tired and on the bus, or in the store or restaurant and there are screaming kids... you don't typically react in love to that person.  Yet if you wrote these letters of love in your heart to people it would allow you to BLESS them when they need it the most.  A smile at a child, or a knowing glance at a parent.

This film is a 4 1/2 star out of 5 stars.  A great film that will touch your heart.

Amazing Love

If you watch this blog (and Praise God it does appear that many people do) you know I review alot of books.  One thing I have not done is review too often movies.  I do get a large amount of movies yet I have not shared them on here unless they were really good (And I can be really picky...)

But I decided it was time to branch out!
So here is a look at a film that I watched this week in Michigan called Amazing Love

Amazing Love DVD

Coming soon to DVD and Blu-ray! With Sean Astin, Erin Bethea, Savannah Jayde, Sammi Hanratty, Kenton Duty, Terrence Hardy Jr, Creagen Dow and Patty Duke!

This is a film about Sean Astin (LOTR, 50 first dates) who is a Youth Pastor taking a group of his teens on an adventure via a Camping Trip.

A new young gal comes on this trip who clashes with the rest of the small group and fights and arguments ensue.  During the event of this the Youth Leader and his wife (Erin Bethea from Fireproof) try to sort out the issues and finally they do as Sean Austin shares the story of Hosea.

All of the Hosea story scenes were filmed in Israel making this a very realistic film on God's Unconditional love.
There is a key moment where Hosea realizes the God loves us despite of us.   He finds Gomer for sale and purchases her back. This scene showed the truth of Gods undying love for us.

On a 5 scale, I would say this is a 3.  The acting is middle level on the modern side mainly due to the teenager actors who were decent but not always 'real to life', during the Hosea area scenes the acting was better.  The scene settings were PHENOMENAL for Hosea.

As far as Script/Storyline goes this is a great film with a very STRONG Christian message that will change lives when they find God's unconditional love for us.

So again a 3 out of 5 star rating.  Pick this up for your family to watch and you will not be disappointed with the very strong themes and story that is weaved throughout it.
