Yesterday, on the 3rd of July, I had the opportunity to have Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas in my Ankeny, IA store for a book signing event. I had the SM very nervous about this event as we were having "American Royalty" in the store. The Sen. is running for President in the next election. So regardless of whether he wins or not, it is truly an honor to have him in the store.
As a company we are none political, and can not voice an opinion at these events, and thus had to have them place any Election campaign info outside the store. But it was still a great event.
From a personal note I will say, regardless of your political affiliations (Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green party etc...) This man was genuine. He was real, he was honest and he was friendly. There was not an 'air' of entitlement that he expected anything from anyone.
I would highly recommend that regardless of your affiliations you should read his book "From Power to Purpose". The book has some great examples of Leadership and placing "God" first. Cause if God is for us who can be against us!!!
