Jan. 5th, 2016 Psalm 90:12-17

Psalm 90:12-17
12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.
13 O Lord, come back to us!
How long will you delay?
Take pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
15 Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery!
Replace the evil years with good.
16 Let us, your servants, see you work again;
let our children see your glory.
17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful!

It has been a long day and I have not had time to read through this today... until now...
What an amazing and powerful group of verses!

There is a power when you realize the 'brevity' of your life. When you think that today could be your last. When you have had a near death experience.
You want to make sure that each moment counts. But often we are distracted and we allow for trivial things to get in the way of the important things. Health, Family, Salvation, God....

We allow our pains to get in our way... we FOCUS on them... WE DWELL on them! What if we really prayed "God give me gladness in the same proportion as to our MISERY!"
He is a GOOD father and will answer that prayer!

Then can we work and do so with God's approval because HE will show us HIS will and guide us!

I am reminded of the Character of Sherlock Holmes. Watson would ask him simple questions about the latest gossip etc. and Holmes never knew about it. Why? Because he said for everything I learn I have to forget something else and that something else might be important so I ensure that only the things I learn are of equal or greater importance!

What if we lived our lives like that?
What if we ensured that all of our thoughts, movies, reading, etc... were all things that would ENCOURAGE, LIFT UP, STRENGTHEN, and GLORIFY GOD?
Would our lives have a different outcome?
Wouldn't we live a different way?
